From the owner

Lying on the southern fringe of the Scottish Highlands, a few miles from Callander, famously known as the Gateway to the Highlands and close to Loch Lommond and the Trossochs, is Muir Estate. Here, within the estates 188 acres, you will find privacy, peace and tranquillity.

We're husband and wife team Claire and Alick. Between us we have years of experience managing large Scottish estates and 5 star properties, delivering exceptional hospitality. We're the proud new owners of Muir Estate and are passionate about carrying on the proud heritage and giving people a unique experience in this special corner of Scotland.

The Lodge has 2 lounge areas, dining room, kitchen, utility room, 2 halls, and is a 5 bedroom home that sleeps 10-13 plus 2 infants in the following rooms;

- 1x king/twin with private shower and toilet

- 2x super king/twin en-suite rooms for cot and camp bed in one of these rooms

- 1x master bedroom super king/twin and 2 single sofa beds, room for 2 cots, en-suite with double sinks, double ended bath and huge walk in shower:

- 1x super king/twin with en-suite bathroom with hand held shower, room for a cot or child sleeping mat;

- 1x single and 1x double sofa bed in the downstairs lounge

- (2 cots, 4 child mats, and a camp bed are available at no extra cost that would fit in many of the rooms)

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and want with a range style cooked (3 eclectic ovens and 2 electric grills, 7 gas burning hobs), American style fridge freezer, toaster, microwave, blender, cake mixer etc etc. If there is something that you need please just ask.

The dining room will seat 13 plus an additional 6 people if extended, and there are two sofa beds at the bottom of the dining area. All the floors apart from the twin room are underfloor heated by eco friendly ground source. Water is from our private bore hole that is better than you get out of your normal tap water, and has a highly sophisticated filtration system. There is a utility room with washer dryer, ironing board and iron. Soaps, liquids, washing tablets etc all provided.

Step outside onto the patio, and enjoy your breakfast al fresco, and say good morning to the wildlife. Afterwards take a strole down to the loch, through the woods, or wander through the Christmas trees (wellington boots required), go and say hello to the resident sheep or deer that Alick farms. You might even see him with his 6 working sheep dogs Patch, Moss and Ben, Kim, Tess, and Meg. Due to the elevated position of the estate, at the end of every wee walk you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Ben Ledi, Ben Lomand, the Campsie Fells or the Gargunnock hills. The views are truly epic and you forget that you are not far from civilisation but yet feel completely secluded, immersed in nature and tranquillity.

If you fancy going further afield, Callander, the Trossachs and Loch Lommond are all just minutes away on the doorstep, or do some sight seeing in nearby Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. When you get back, soak away any aches and pains in the hot tub, If you want to have a more rustic meal, venture across the garden and get the wood burning on the bespoke built Pizza Oven and BBQ where there is plenty room for a banquet to be cooked over the flames.

Once the day is over you will be sure to get a sound night sleep in the super comfy beds with sumptuous linens, tried and tested by our guests at the 5 star Woodcroft House and receive high praise. The nights at the Lodge are still with just the sound of the owls in the distance or if you stay at the rut season you will hear the stags roaring. Why can't I call Claire (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Claire (the owner) a message.

If Claire (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
