Welcome to The Barn in the seaside village of Malin Beg on the rugged coast of county Donegal, approx. 45 minutes’ drive from Donegal Town along the Wild Atlantic Way coastline in Glencolumbkille.

This completed barn conversion offers a relaxing luxurious space, finished to a high standard in which to enjoy your well-earned break.

With expansive sea views of Rathlin O’Byrne island and Martello tower, The Barn is close to the Silver Strand beach and Slieve league cliffs. The property is ideally situated for anyone wanting to experience the rugged beauty of Ireland's North West coast, with ample opportunities for walking, cycling, running, fishing or just sitting back and taking in the magnificent scenery.

One free box of wood for timber fire place per booking. Additional wood available for purchase at local grocery shop.

All areas have underfloor heating throughout and the living room has a lovely log fire.

TRAVELING WITH KIDS

To make it easier for you if you are travelling with young children we have 2 high chairs and 2 travel cots with bedding for use (free of charge). Please request.

Kids activity box - we have also put together a kids activity box with games and toys so one less thing to pack.

Broadband and mobile coverage; despite our rural location, we are happy to provide guests free Wi-Fi.

Strict NO pets policy (in or around the property) given we are in a rural location, and farms around.

LOCATION

Located in the village of Malinbeg in Glencolumbkille “Glean colmcille” on the South West coast of county Donegal. Ideally located for exploring the Wild Atlantic way cliffs of Slieve League, the Glencolumbkille Folk Village, the fishing port of Killybegs and the villages of Kilcar, Ardara and Glenties all within an easy drive.

The village of Malin Beg is traditionally a fishing and farming community and continues as such today. The local pier or Ouige as the locals refer to it, is still in use by recreational divers and local fishermen. It is a great place to spend an afternoon fishing. The Silver Strand beach is a 5 minute walk from the Barn and is one of the most scenic beaches in Ireland.

Locally the history and natural beauty are there for everyone to enjoy either by car, bike, boat or foot. There is plenty to see and do while enjoying your stay in the area. The quiet rural nature of the area has attracted visitors for decades who appreciate the rugged unspoilt beauty and constantly changing scenery brought about by the seasons and flora and fauna of the coastal and mountains area.

Slieve League are some of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Standing at the top of the magnificent Slieve League Cliffs, it feels like you're at the very edge of the world.

Glencolumbkille Irish college, Oideas Gael, attracts hundreds of participants annually to its highly acclaimed language courses and cultural programmes. Traditional Irish music played in the local pubs in Glencolumbkille, Carrick and the Rusty Mackerel in Teelin, all within a short drive of Malin Beg.

A car is a must. We are in a rural location and the best way to see Donegal’s best kept secrets is by car.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Brendan (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
