From the owner

Whether it is a peaceful escape or a family activity holiday, we offer a cosy, traditional Cornish cottage as a base to explore our numerous sandy beaches and gorgeous Cornish countryside.

Penweir Cottage is situated in the heart of the pretty village of St Mabyn in North Cornwall. We are a short drive from the coast and the bustling town of Wadebridge and the Camel Estuary. Within 3 miles there are a handful of really good foodie pubs.

The main cottage sleeps up to 5 in 2 bedrooms and the newly converted barn in the garden ( a few steps from the cottage) has a double bedroom and a properly upholstered sofa bed in the living area. Contact me for rates above 5 people.

Further details indoors

Penweir cottage was built in 1885 and retains many original features, including wooden beams, a wood-burning stove and an open fire that complements the central heating. It has been recently renovated to make the cottage light and airy with wood flooring and a neutral décor.

The living room is pleasantly arranged with 2 really comfy sofas and 2 armchairs, a dining area and padded window seating for your gaze to linger on the south facing garden. The kitchen is well equipped for eating in, with a dishwasher, microwave, hob/oven, toaster and proper coffee with a Nespresso machine. Upstairs there is an elegantly decorated bedroom, housing a king size wooden sleigh bed with feather pillows and duvet and has an en-suite shower room.

A second bedroom has 2 single beds with a third bed available, or it can be made into a 6 foot king size bed. Next to the bedroom is a large bathroom, beautifully decorated and has a separate power shower.

in the garden we have converted the barn into additional accommodation, light and airy with double bedroom king size or 2 singles), shower room, kitchenette and living area. Suit teenagers, parents accompanying the family, 2 families or friends.

Further details outdoors

Outside, the south facing garden is pleasantly planted with mature shrubs and flower border, it has plenty of seating and is great for children to play hide and seek! In addition, to the West of the garden is a large park with swings, etc. The 2'6”hedge provides the opportunity to watch your little ones playing while enjoying a glass of wine or a cup of tea sitting on the patio. There is parking to the front of the house.

Penweir Cottage is an ideal base for active summer holidays and a warm and peaceful home from home during the winter months.

In total we can now accommodate up to 8 people in 3 bedrooms and one properly upholstered sofa bed in the converted barn. Please contact me for prices for renting the barn. The barn will never be rented separately to the cottage. You will always have exclusive use.
