Villa Turquoise is located right on the beach with stunning views on the lagoon, Mnemba Island and the Indian Ocean.

The villa is brand new, built in East African colonial style with an impressive Makuti thatch roof and features 5 en-suite bedrooms and one master suite.

Dear Guest, I have discussed your review with our team and I must say that we are extremely disappointed with your comments. Guest satisfaction is our main goal and we take big pride in having only 5-star reviews from all our previous guests. We think your review is quite unfair as it is a very selective and incomplete or even an incorrect version of the facts. I would like to reply to each of the comments you raised and provide the complete and actual facts. Firstly on the catering: o In our very first communication we literally informed you “As for catering we are totally flexible, following formula's are possible: we can send you a shopping list which you use to do your shopping upon arrival (the driver will know where to go) or you mark on that list what you would like us to deliver to the house and the chef will prepare the meals with your groceries. Alternatives are half or full board (breakfast + lunch + 3-course dinner)”. In no way did we push you on catering, we give these options to all our guests enquiring about the Villa and most actually decide for Full Board as they prefer not having to think about menu’s, go shopping etc… o you informed us you were on a budget (which is typically the cause of issues) and decided to work with the grocery list and asked us for directions to shops and markets which we happily provided you with. o We do not understand why you complain about something which did not affect you, you did not order any catering from us. We are in no way trying to make money on catering but do have to be conservative in fixed fees for those ordering Full or Half Board (an option we need to provide for guests who do not want to spend precious holiday time shopping around as you do) as we have no control on what is being consumed as these are basically all-in options. Secondly on the transfers/taxi’s. o yes one can always find cheaper options but from experience in Zanzibar cheaper typically comes with safety risks and issues which is something we will never compromise on! o We check for each of the drivers AND each of the vehicles of the 2 companies we use if they are properly licensed, inspected and insured etc…. It gives us the peace of mind that in case something happens our guests will be fully insured and covered. Each time the owner of the Villa is in Zanzibar they use exactly the same companies and drivers and pay exactly the same amount as our guests are paying. I have seen plenty other cases in Africa and Zanzibar…We just charge what we are being charged, we are not taking any commission on transfers or taxis but we do offer safety and peace of mind to our guests. Thirdly on ‘several lights not working in the house and garden’. Sorry but this is not correct, after your check-out you personally told me that there were some lights in the garden not working, that one shower downstairs was not working, I did check this the evening after you had left and all lights were working perfectly and same for the shower. Lamps indeed sometimes break but in such case we replace these immediately. We do not understand why you raise this and why you refer to several lights in the house and garden, when you actually just told me about garden lights and even that was not correct! It was definitely also not correct (nor according to contract from your side) to invite other guests (staying at a cheaper hotel nearby) to stay at the Villa with you, this causes declaration and insurance issues for us and we needed to tell you this is not acceptable. You can be unhappy about that (better would have been to advise us on beforehand and we would have found a good solution) but not use this as a reason to write this kind of review. We do welcome constructive feedback but this is incorrect and unfair. We have also tried twice to reach out to you to discuss these issues directly as they come as a surprise to us but unfortunately you have not replied to any of our messages. I very much regret your comments and choice of words, we want to delight all our customers and exceed expectations for each of them. With most of our guests that works very well as can be seen from all our reviews, we are disappointed to hear that we failed in this with you but are also relieved to hear from all guests staying after you that they have been extremely satisfied with our attention and services. How do damage deposits work?
